Compiere Manufacturing (MFG) and Supply Chain Management (SCM) is a planned extension of the Compiere Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relations Management (CRM) enterprise-level software package. The MFG and SCM extensions will provide manufactures and warehouses with an open source software that enables them to produce and deliver goods in a controlled environment using embedded Compiere planning and control tools – thereby streamlining the manufacturing organization and maximizing sales and profitability.
Compiere MFG & SCM is an Open Source Initiative (OSI) software development project with four primary areas of focus:
Control and planning of material
Control of manufacturing operations
Control of supply chain operations
Reporting to ERP.
Software with these four capabilities will enable manufacturers to effectively plan raw material purchases, execute a manufacturing plan, receive parts, manufacture, store and ship products in the most efficient and predictable manner possible. It will be capable to work stand alone or connected to an ERP. It will be capable to extend Compiere ERP & CRM components.
Provide General Objectives and Architecture documents
These documents describe long term objectives. You will find them on
this page on the More Doc button.
Step by step provide building blocks. All modules will be based on "Open Source Standards". When we will extend external tools, we will try to get our extensions included in the standard distribution of these tools.
First step: provide Barcode printing solution: The
Barcode extension is now partially integrated in IReport 3.1. We keep
working to finish integration. This will give a real professional
barcode solution to the open source community.
Second step: Realization of
machine interface: The actual implementation enables to control
machines using Modbus protocol (serial and TCP).
Third step: implementation
of alarm management: Alarm management will enable plant
managers to have a real distributed control on their shopfloor
management.
